Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to bring for my first class?
The most important thing to bring is yourself! We say "Just show up!"
We also suggest bringing water. We have a water cooler to fill re-usable bottles but we do not sell plastic water bottles.  Bring a mat if you have one, but you can borrow one of ours or even purchase one for yourself in our retail space!

Is the first class free?

If you have a cool friend who gave you one of their Free Class Passes it is. Otherwise, we offer an unbeatable introductory special for people that are new to our studio- 30 days of unlimited classes (including yoga, spin, weights, and anything else on the schedule!) for just $39. Also our special Yoga Lab Membership has many perks, one of those being 3 guest passes per month, which can be given to and used by anyone regardless of number of times the person has come to the studio.

How early do I have to come?
If it is your first time at The Yoga Lab, we recommend coming in 15 minutes before the start time of class. If you want talk to an instructor/staff member or if you just want to hang outside the studio, come 20 minutes before the start of class!

What if I'm late?

If you arrive a few minutes late, go to check in first and they will help you sneak seamlessly into class if that is possible for that particular class, based on space and timing.

What style of yoga is taught at The Yoga Lab?
Most of our yoga classes are Vinyasa Flow inspired by the True North Alignment principles of Baptiste Yoga. We offer a few different types of yoga classes: Yin/Deep Stretch, Hot Power, Cool Flow.

What is Baptiste Yoga?

How do I early cancel myself from a class?
Here's a super simple step by step guide:
On the Mindbody Website:
1. Log into your Mindbody account on your computer or browser
2. Click the "My Info" Tab at the top
3. Click "My Schedule" towards the top of the page, underneath the main tabs
4. You'll see everything you are registered for, to the far right find the word "Cancel" and click it!
5. A pop up will show up asking if you are sure you want to cancel, click okay, and you are done!

On the MindBody App:
1. Open app on your mobile device
2. Click "schedule" on the bottom
3. Click "upcoming" on the top
4. Click the class you want to cancel
5. When the new window opens, click "cancel" on the bottom
6. Window will pop up, Click "cancel booking"

What if I am under 18?
A parent will need to sign a waiver for you. Occasionally we have kids under 16 attend adult classes. It’s really an individual determination. If they are under 16 they must have an adult with them at all times. It would have to be a situation where you are reasonably sure the child could participate in the class and stay quiet and non-distracting the whole time - no getting off the mat or participating in distracting behavior. We don’t recommend the heated classes for anyone under 16 years old.

What if I can't even touch my toes?
If you can believe it, this is one of the most common questions a new person will ask! The best answer we can give is super simple: flexibility is NOT a prerequisite of yoga, its a side-effect! If you can't touch your toes, that is the EXACT reason why you come in!

Which type of class should I try first?
If you have not done much fitness activities for a while try gentle or basics first. Yin/deep stretch is really mellow, too! If you have been on some kind of fitness regimen but just haven't ever tried yoga any class will probably be fine.

Are all the classes hot? And just how hot is "hot"?
Hot classes are labeled HOT on the schedule. If you don't see the word HOT on the schedule, you will know that it is a non-heated class. In a "hot" class, the room is heated to 90 degrees. The heat is a powerful way to cleanse and detox your body from the inside out!

What if I [am pregnant] [have a slipped disk] [just got my knee replaced] [insert anything here]?
Yoga can be remarkable healing for many conditions. We have well-trained instructors ready to assist your individual needs. Every single BODY is different, though, and we know each person has his or her own story. The best thing you can do if you are concerned about something is shoot us an email at yogalaborlando@gmail.com and ask! If you are pregnant, have had a surgery, joint replacement, or critical injury in the recent past, you should obtain clearance from a medical doctor before any physical activity.

How many classes per week should I go to in order to see results?
Depending on what you're looking for, anywhere from 2-5 times/week. We know, we know, you're so busy! There is incredible power to be discovered when you make "wellness" time for yourself. With a membership at The Yoga Lab you will have access to Yoga and Workshops. You can calm your mind, gain peace and clarity, increase your flexibility, strengthen your heart and lungs, tone up your entire body, and then foam roll to work out all the sore muscles ALL IN ONE PLACE!

Do I have to pre-register for class?
We highly recommend signing in ahead of time. You can sign in via the CLASS SCHEDULE button at the top of this page or the MindBody Connect app (see question below). If you sign in ahead of time, when you arrive at the studio all you have to do is “check in” at the front desk! You should cancel yourself out of class if you sign up and then do not make it.

Is there an app?
We use the MindBody software which means that you can access the updated schedule at ANY time. To download the free app, go to your app store on your cell phone and search MindBody. Once you download the app on your phone, search for our name, The Yoga Lab. It's pretty user friendly, but if you have any trouble, bring your phone with you next time you come in and our desk staff would be happy to help.
